About this course
This course is for anyone looking to become a Medical Assistant. We will go over everything you need to know as a Medical Assistant. With this course, all students, who successfully pass the course, will be eligible to take the National Certification Exam. Students will complete all required clinical virtually utilizing SIMTICS virtual simulation modules.
Topics Covered
Below are some topics covered in the course. These are just the basics and more will be covered.
1. Introduction to Health Care
Learn about the basics of Health Care including what a Medical Assistant is, as well as legal and ethical obligations.
2. Administrative Medical Assisting
We will discuss the administrative side of Medical Assisting including patient communication, scheduling, billing, and more.
3. Anatomy and Physiology
During this section of the course we will review different topics pertaining to Anatomy and Physiology in the Medical Assistant field.
4. Medical Terminology
We will discuss the basics of medical terminology including prefixes, suffixes, and root words.
5. Clinical Medical Assisting
During the clinical section of the course, we will review clinical skills such as phlebotomy services, EKGs, capillary punctures, urine collections, and more!
6. Pediatric and Geriatric Procedures
We will describe the difference required when managing both pediatric and geriatric patients.
